Runners reach target for Afonso

Algarve residents Connell Grogan, Bradley Querl and Alex Kenney successfully completed the Lisbon Marathon and raised €1,500 for Afonso Chaves, a six-year old boy from Tavira with Angelman’s Syndrome (see the Algarve Resident edition December 3).

Ricardo Chaves, the father of Afonso, told the Algarve Resident: “We are very proud and thankful to them all and the money that the runners have raised will be invested in communication devices that will help Afonso to be able to converse with others.  I would also like to thank the Algarve Resident for all the support.”

Connell Grogan and Bradley Querl both finished the marathon in five hours and 23 minutes while Alex Kenney completed the run in five hours and 10 minutes.
