Revamp aims to restore market to former glory
Major renovations are due to begin soon at the rundown local market in Odeceixe, Aljezur Council has announced.
Around €130,000 is being invested to waterproof the market, which is currently facing “serious leaks”, and paint the entire building.
“Due to the poor conditions of the building, the normal functioning of the market has been affected and some establishments have had to close,” the council says.
“With these renovations, we want Odeceixe market to become a relevant commercial point for the local population once again,” it adds.
The market features six stores, fruit and fish stands and a small snack-bar.
