From January 1, smokers will only be able to light up in closed spaces that are larger than 100 sq m, and have a minimum ceiling height of 3 m. As all smokers will be aware, there are already tight restrictions on smoking in closed spaces – obliging establishments to have ventilation systems/ separate spaces, etc. These new rules simply add to the existing ones – meaning any space that has invested in the past, but is smaller than 100 sq m or with a ceiling height lower than 3m, can no longer permit smoking.
