Rui Silvestre takes the helm at Vistas with eyes set on Michelin star

Rui Silvestre is the new head chef of fine-dining Vistas restaurant at the Monte Rei Golf & Country Club in Vila Nova de Cacela.

In 2015, he became the youngest chef ever in Portugal to be awarded a Michelin star when he was the head chef at Carvoeiro’s Bon Bon restaurant.

Now, the 32-year-old wants to achieve the same feat at Vistas.

“We are aware of the challenge that earning a Michelin star at Vistas represents, but we have no doubts that Rui Silvestre is up to the task as his personal history shows,” said the resort’s general manager Salvador Lucena.

Despite his young age, Chef Rui Silvestre has already established himself as one of the country’s most successful chefs.

In 2017, he was one of only 10 chefs around the world to receive the coveted ‘Prix au Chef de L’Avenir’, awarded every year by the International Academy of Gastronomy (IAG) to the world’s most promising young chefs.

Last year, he also opened his very own restaurant in the centre of Lisbon called Quorum.

Vistas at Monte Rei is his latest challenge.

The restaurant is open from Tuesday to Saturday between 7.30pm and 10.30pm.
