WALES PUT UP a great show against the Springboks, just losing out by a two-point margin. Scotland looked to be overrun by the Australians until staging a second-half comeback as the game ended 14-31 in the Wallabies’ favour.
In the Tri-Nations Championship, Great Britain recovered from a 12-2 interval deficit to beat New Zealand 22-12. The victory was inspired by the most exciting talent in Rugby League, Danny McGuire, who was involved in all three tries. New Zealand’s teenage sensation, Sonny Bill Williams, did not disappoint, setting up Ali Lauitiiti’s first try and forcing the second across the line himself. Great Britain now only needs one more win from their remaining round-robin games to go through to meet Australia in the final.
