ENGLAND’S RUGBY squad will be coming to the Algarve this summer, for intensive training in the run up to the Rugby World Cup in France, which begins in September.
The entourage of between 50 and 60 players, coaches and fitness trainers will be staying at Brown’s Sports and Leisure Club, in Vilamoura. Owner Alan Brown confirmed their presence and said that they would be taking over the club for around 12 days.
He told The Resident that one of the main reasons the squad chose Brown’s over all other fitness resorts was that a small group came over recently to “evaluate the facilities and went away extremely impressed”. They were particularly impressed with the grass rugby pitch and the heavy weight gym, but Alan Brown said that the centre as a whole was just what they were looking for.
“There is a great deal of privacy and we have the whole package. Everything they need is on-site and we are very flexible to suit their needs”, said Alan Brown.
They will be staying in the villas and executive rooms at Brown’s Sports and Leisure Club while they are in the Algarve and will have full use of all facilities.
Their preparation training will be intensive but there is speculation that they will hold a press day to answer questions before the World Cup kicks off.
