Television || RTP, Portugal’s national broadcasting channel, has signed a collaboration deal with Chinese television (CCTV) to produce two documentaries, to be screened in both countries.
Said Alberto da Ponte, RTP’s president: “The documentaries are a first step in a collaboration that will bring a great deal to RTP.”
He even hinted at joint Portuguese-Chinese productions in the future, and the sharing of technology.
For now, however, the Chinese have opted to stay mum over the deal.
It is believed the documentaries – to centre on the cultures of both countries – will be funded from the budgets of each TV station.
Celebrating the deal shaken on in front of cameras, Miguel Poiares Maduro, government spokesman and minister for regional development, said the exercise was part of Portugal’s ongoing desire to strengthen historic links with China.
