Talking exclusively to The Resident, José Dias, vice president of the Algarve Tourism Board, made the following statement about the disappearance of three-year-old Madeleine McCann:
“Our hearts are with the family and particularly the parents of Madeleine. It is irrelevant at this time whether or not this will be bad for tourism in the Algarve. Our main concern and that of all Portuguese people is the safe return of Madeleine. We are trying to do everything possible for this to happen.”
He also confirmed that the RTA is launching a poster campaign to cover the whole of the Algarve.
