Rt dips below 1: Portugal’s 5th wave recedes rapidly

Portugal’s 5th wave of Covid infections is rapidly receding. Today’s Covid bulletin marks the 3rd consecutive day in which the number of new infections has been below the number of so-called recoveries (meaning people who tested positive and are now testing negative: they are rarely people who have been ill). Today’s new cases number 17,019; recoveries over 20,000 more at 37,646. Deaths came in at 36 over the last 24-hours (as usual no ages or comorbidities explained), incidence is dipping (although still very high) but RT is now well below 1, meaning the virus is losing momentum.
