HIS ROYAL Highness Prince Edward, Earl of Wessex, is due to attend a charity golf tournament at the Oceânico Victoria Golfe course in Vilamoura on July 5.

This charity event, entitled the Portugal Qualifying Event is part of the annual Duke of Edinburgh Cup tournament.

This tournament, hosted once again by André Jordan, is part of the International Golf for Youth tournaments, organised under the auspices of International Golf for Youth, which is linked to The Duke of Edinburgh’s Award. This was founded in Great Britain by the Duke of Edinburgh in 1956 and has as affiliate in Portugal the Prémio Infante D. Henrique, of which the Honourable President is the Duke of Bragança.

Proceeds from this event will be donated to Duke of Edinburgh Award projects.

“The realisation of such an emblematic tournament, which gathers distinguished personalities, is a proud motive and a way of giving prestige to Portugal and Golf overseas,” said André Jordan.

The net winners of the qualifying for Men, three, and Women, one, will compete in the World Final of The Duke of Edinburgh Cup in Windsor, England between September 28 and October 2.

The main sponsors of the event are The Residences at Victoria Clube de Golfe, British Airways, Oceânico Victoria Golf Course, Hilton Vilamoura, Jaguar Lisbon, BBVA, Europcar, Essential, Clube de Golfe da Quinta do Lago, Clube de Golfe de Vilamoura and Clube de Golfe de Belas.
