THE ROTARY Club of Silves is on track for a bumper fundraising year, as it gears up for its annual Jazz Spectacular.
Rotary year ends in June and, by then, it is envisaged that the Club will have raised more than 5,000 euros for local organisations. The biggest recipients will have been the Day Centre at São Marcos da Serra and the Bombeiros at Silves and Alcantarilha.
A Jazz Spectacular at the Vale da Pinta Golf Resort in Carvoeiro is the next Rotary event, to be held on Saturday, April 29, from 7.30pm. Local companies have, once again, done Rotary proud with generous sponsorship and the donation of goods and services for the auction. Music for jazz lovers, and those who love to dance, will be provided by the New Orleans Jazz Band.
Rotarian Herbert Chatters says: “Rotary is proud to be in a position to harness the giving talents of local companies and, with the support of residents and visitors, raise substantial funds to assist organisations and individuals. I would like to express the thanks of the Club to the five companies that have sponsored the Jazz Spectacular – The Resident, Pina Garden Centre in Lagoa, Victor Picardo Hair Salons throughout the Algarve, AIM Removals in Odiáxere and Fred Peeters Antiques in Messines. Thanks also go to those who have given to the auction.”
Among the fabulous items to be auctioned are bottles of wine produced from Sir Cliff Richard’s own vines, paintings, and rounds of golf, including buggies, at Vale da Pinta and Gramacho golf courses.
