Estoi Rotary Club International will be hosting the First Annual Blevins Franks Rotary Regatta at the Vilamoura Marina on Saturday, May 31. All proceeds from the event will go to support the Algarve Oncology Association.
Yacht clubs and yacht owners are invited to enter yachts larger than six metres in the yacht race. The race will take place under handicap rules and will be supervised by the Vilamoura Yacht Club (CIMAV), which will be providing course and safety personnel. Through the yacht club, Marina de Vilamoura is offering two weeks’ free berthing for competing boats and it will also be providing mooring facilities to pick up crews.
Yachts will be required to register in advance. The race will start at approximately 11am, so yachts should be at the starting position by 10.30am on Saturday morning.
If you are interested in crewing on one of the yachts, please contact either Jim Bell ([email protected]); Gustavo Lima ([email protected]) or Daniel Silva ([email protected]) for more information.
The Rotary Club of Estoi Palace International has obtained the use of a 60-foot catamaran for viewing the race. Tickets for a seat on the catamaran are €15 per person.
Following the race there will be a prize-giving ceremony and barbecue at the Vilamoura Yacht Club. Tickets to the barbecue are €15 per person.
If you would like to support this cause there are still sponsorship packages available. Details are available from Jim Bell, Gustavo Lima and Daniel Silva as noted above.
