Rotary Club Estoi helps buy mobile breast screening unit

The Algarve Oncology Association (AOA) has a new much-needed mobile breast screening unit which it purchased via EU funding and with the help of a number of local charities, including the Rotary Club Estoi Palace International and the Wolf Valley Charity.

The association purchased the equipment while the charities pitched in to buy the €60,000 vehicle.

It was only one of many projects that RC Estoi Palace has been “instrumental in supporting”. Others include purchasing a refrigerated truck for the Faro Food Bank and a new fully-equipped ambulance for the São Brás Bombeiros.

RC Estoi was founded in 2008 and has “worked tirelessly to help the underprivileged, cooperating with other local charities”.

The club is open to new members who want to “make a real difference to people’s lives” ([email protected]).

Meantime, RC Estoi has also announced that it will be hosting a Charity Golf Day at the Monte Rei Golf & Country Club on Thursday, August 31.

Only 80 places are available, with tickets costing €150 before July 31 and €170 after.
