Rotary charity golf tournament returns to Monte Rei in August

Estoi Palace Rotary Club International (RCEPI) is inviting the public to participate in an “exceptional day of golf for charity” at the prestigious Monte Rei Golf Course and Country Club on Thursday, August 29.

Places are going fast so those interested are asked to register promptly through the RCEPI online form at – you can register as an individual and be placed with a foursome if you do not have your own group.

The price for the tournament is €185 for each golfer and includes: continental breakfast, 18 holes of golf, golf cart, soft drinks and water on the course, lunch at the Vistas Restaurant prepared by Michelin-starred chef Rui Silvestre, plus awards ceremony and prizes.

Peter Zahner, the Tournament Chairman, says: “Participating is an easy way to contribute to charity and a fabulous package deal as a golf round alone is more expensive than the entry price.”

Monte Rei Golf and Country Club is the only Jack Nicklaus course in Portugal and has recently been listed as one of the top courses in Europe.

The funds raised by Estoi Palace International Rotary Club help charities in the Algarve as well as international projects. The Club has helped fund a mobile breast cancer unit; a mobile lung and skin cancer testing unit; assisted in purchasing a mobile van for the Faro Food Bank; paid for a local milk programme; donated wheelchairs; sent children to summer camp; donated towards multiple sclerosis; purchased Christmas gifts for disadvantaged children; and funded the purchase of a fully equipped ambulance for the São Brás Bombeiros, among other projects.

The Open Media Group, publishers of the Algarve Resident, is again media sponsors for this event.
