Despite uncertainty due to the coronavirus pandemic, Rotary Club Estoi Palace International (RCEPI) has announced that its 8th Rotary Charity Golf Tournament at Monte Rei Golf & Country Club will go ahead as planned on Thursday, August 27, albeit with “necessary changes to ensure social distancing on the course and during lunch”.
The proposed new format is: maximum number of players is 40 (reduced from 80) with teams of four; no bag handling on arrival by Monte Rei staff; staggered registration; breakfast of tea/coffee with pastries; the practice range will be available for a short period; a fully sanitized buggy will be provided for each player although more than one person may share a buggy; allocated tee times, with 15 minutes between flights; pre-lunch complimentary drinks; lunch in The Grill; prize-giving.
The entry fee is €170 per player. Due to the difficulty in making travel commitments, RCEPI decided to open online registration, via its website www.rotaryestoipalace.org with immediate effect but will not request payment until early August.
Funds raised by the event will go towards Rotary charities which support the local and international communities such as the Faro Food Bank, the support of local students with specialist needs and global causes like End Polio Now.
Monte Rei has been awarded the “Clean and Safe” seal by Turismo de Portugal.
