A charity golf tournament organised by the Estoi Palace International Rotary Club raised more than €6,000 for the End Polio Now campaign.
A fully subscribed field took to the greens and fairways of the Quinta do Vale course on August 27, with competitors following a Stableford format with a shotgun start.
The overall winner of the tournament was Trevor Hill of Frontera Furniture with 42 points, who was awarded the Imperius Asset Management Cup and won a two-night stay at the Vila Vita Parc Resort.
Closely following in second place was Mark Ellerton with 41 points who won a night’s stay at the Longevity Wellness Spa in Monchique while in third place there was Rudi Van Dommelen of Quinta do Vale with 39 points, who won a two-night stay at Vila Galé Clube de Campo Alentejo.
A spokesman for Rotary Club Estoi Palace International said: “Everyone agreed it was a most enjoyable and successful day and that the funds will be going to a very good cause, the final elimination of polio which has blighted too many lives worldwide.
“Special thanks to the management for the use of their course and in particular to club managing director David Silva and to sponsors Imperius Asset Management and Premier FX in Almancil.”
