Over 250 restaurants in the Algarve are taking part in this year’s ‘Rota do Petisco’, which will be held earlier than usual – between April 24 and May 26.
The event is a “gastronomic route” that features restaurants and eateries all over the region offering a variety of tapas-sized dishes and desserts at lower prices, from €2 to €3, including a drink.
A passport costing €1.50 (which goes to charity) is needed to participate in the event and serves as a guide to all the venues. Every eatery provides a stamp in the passport, with 12 stamps giving clients an opportunity to win an assortment of prizes at the end of the event.
There will also be a ‘Rota dos Pequeninos’ for children and a ‘Rota dos Chefs’, which will feature dishes by some of the region’s most renowned chefs, including Megan Melling (Mar d’Estórias), José Moura (Tivoli Hotel Lagos) and Nuno Martins (Restaurante Vista Rio).
This will be the ninth year that the gastronomic event is held in the Algarve.
