This year’s Rota do Petisco (Tapas Route) is well on its way to becoming the most successful so far. Organisers Teia D’Impulsos have announced that “90,000 tapas” have been sold in the event’s first two weeks, a number which has “exceeded all expectations”.
The initiative – held every year with the goal of promoting the region’s cuisine with special dishes at accessible prices – includes over 170 venues this year in Portimão, Alvor, Mexilhoeira Grande, Ferragudo, Silves and Monchique.
For just €3, customers can try one of the many ‘petiscos’ (tapas) accompanied by a drink while desserts and sweets are sold for €2.
There is also a children’s route and a bar route, which includes 10 bars in Portimão, Praia da Rocha and Alvor serving special drinks for €2.
The route’s full programme, including all venues and entertainment, is available at www.rotadopetisco.com. The event runs until October 11.
