Rota do Petisco 2018 boasts record number of restaurants

A record 277 eateries will be taking part in this year’s Rota do Petisco, which will be held between October 4 and November 4 in an also unprecedented 13 boroughs in the Algarve.

Albufeira, São Brás de Alportel, Tavira and Castro Marim are the new boroughs that will participate in the event, considered one of the main gastronomic happenings in the Algarve.

The initiative involves scores of restaurants offering a variety of typical Algarvean dishes and desserts at reduced prices, giving people the chance to try different flavours.

“Without a doubt, this will be the biggest ‘Rota’ ever,” says Teia d’Impulsos, the Portimão-based association that organises the event.

Like in previous editions, the idea of the event is that people buy a ‘passport’ (€1) which is a guide to all the venues and their menus and allows them to sample a variety of typical dishes in tapas form for €3, accompanied by a drink.

Local sweets and desserts can also be tasted for €2.

Funds raised through the sale of Rota do Petisco passports go to help local charities and institutions.
