A powerful free-kick by Real Madrid star Cristiano Ronaldo led to a painful injury for 11-year-old spectator Charlie Siverwood, who was struck by the ball that fractured his arm.
The youngster was watching his home-team Bournemouth take on the Spanish squad and, despite the unfortunate event, was able to withstand the pain until the end of the match.
“My father was sitting next to me and he ducked. So I got hit by the ball,” he said. “It hurt a lot. Ronaldo is the most expensive player in the world and he broke my arm,” he added.
After the game, Charlie was taken to hospital where it was confirmed that he had a double-fracture in his wrist.
The news reached the Portuguese player, who made a point of sending Charlie a Real Madrid shirt, signed by the whole squad.
