When Cristiano Ronaldo leads out Portugal for their EURO qualifier against Armenia at the Algarve Stadium, Faro, this Friday, it will be the first competitive international at the stadium since 2005.
On that occasion Portugal beat Luxembourg 6-0 in a 2006 World Cup qualifier and whilst there is not expected to be an avalanche of goals on this occasion, a victory is imperative. In addition, if superhero Cristiano Ronaldo scores, he will set a new European goal scoring record in championship games.
He is currently joint record holder with Hakan Şükür (Turkey) and Jon Dahl Tomasson (Denmark) on 22 goals.
Portugal coach Fernando Santos has called up defenders Raphael Guerreiro, Tiago Gomes and former FC Porto and Chelsea favourite José Bosingwa for the injured Coentrão, Eliseu and Antunes.
There is also a recall for striker Hélder Postiga.
Kick-off is 7.45pm and fans are advised to arrive early particularly if they wish to buy tickets on the evening.
