Ronaldo among “most arrogant footballers”, says French newspaper

Often criticised for his attitude and vanity, Portuguese football star Cristiano Ronaldo has been named one of “the most arrogant” footballers by French newspaper L’Equipe.

The dishonourable mention came in a double-page spread focusing on the sport’s “most hated” players.

“His goal celebrations and his Greek God posture don’t help his popularity,” wrote the paper, which went on to cite PSG striker Zlatan Ibrahimovic and Manchester City midfielder Samir Nasri as equally arrogant.

Chelsea’s Diego Costa is the ‘star’ of the article, being named the most hated player in the game, and further labelled “ugly and nasty” as a result of several disgraces on the pitch.

Other controversial characters include Costa’s teammate John Terry, Mario Balotelli and Nicklas Bentdner.

Elsewhere, Nigel de Jong was named one of the game’s most violent players after twice breaking opponents’ legs in the space of just six months.
