THE ROLLING STONES have recently announced they will be playing in Portugal in May 2006. According to the Portuguese promoter, Ritmos e Blues, the concert in Portugal will be the first date of the band’s European tour and is likely to be staged at Porto’s Estádio do Dragão.
The last time the rock legends performed in this country was in 2003, when they played at Coimbra’s municipal stadium as part of the Licks Tour.
A press conference held recently in New York, announcing details of the band’s world tour, confirmed that the first concert would take place at Boston’s Fenway Park on August 21 this year. After touring the US and Canada, the Rolling Stones will perform in Mexico, South America and in the Far East, before, finally, making their way to Europe next summer.
Best tour ever!
This year’s tour takes the concert experience to the next level, by bringing together the advantages of an up-close club experience with their electric stadium show.
The band will also fulfill the ultimate dream of music lovers across the globe, offering the unimaginable: the opportunity to be onstage with the Rolling Stones! Several hundred seats are built directly into the stage set, offering fans the once-in-a-lifetime opportunity to share the excitement and adrenaline rush of being onstage as the Rolling Stones perform to an audience of 50,000 plus.
“For fans, this will be the greatest tour yet,” said tour promoter, Michael Cohl, at the New York press conference.
The tour coincides with the release of the Rolling Stones’ new album, Oh No Not You Again.
