It was a night to remember at Restaurante Brasas e Vinhos in Almancil on Saturday, February 15.
One of the Algarve Rock Choir’s lead singers, Julia Hammond, organised a charity evening to raise funds for the Associação dos Amigos dos Animais Abandonados de Loulé (AAAA), perhaps better known as the São Francisco de Assis Kennel.
The restaurant provided a buffet and the Algarve Rock Choir provided the entertainment, which resulted in €5,000 being raised.
“I am always overwhelmed by the generosity of the people of the Algarve and beyond,” said Lilo Clauberg-Kranendonk, President of AAAA.
“We rely totally on charity and without the help of people like Julia and the many others who spend their time organising events to raise funds for us, we would not be able to continue taking care of all the animals we have at the Canil. Currently we are caring for more than 400 dogs, cats and donkeys.”
The money that was raised will be used towards paying veterinary and food expenses, always an ongoing problem for Lilo and her team of helpers.
