A section of a cliff at Porto de Mós beach, in Lagos, was removed by the local bombeiros on Thursday, July 21, after it was considered unstable.
The hazardous rock, which was 20 metres above the ground, was detected by the Maritime Police while patrolling the area.
Lagos Bombeiros, in coordination with the Algarve Hydrographic Administration (ARH), later proceeded with the manual removal of the rock using rappelling expertise and levers to force it to detach from the cliff.
The operation was carried out early in the morning to ensure the safety of bathers.
