Robert Burns remembered

The St Andrew’s Society of the Algarve held a Burns supper at the Ponte Romana restaurant in Silves on January 23.

Allison Hohnbaum from the St Andrew’s Society said: “The celebration was very well attended by both members and friends. The guests, resplendent in their traditional wear, were welcomed to the restaurant by Malcolm McGillvray on the bagpipes.”

She added that the evening got under away with a “wee dram” before the official welcome and address to the haggis by herself as Chieftain. The Immortal Memory was given by Rod Frew and the Toast and Reply to the Lassies was presented by husband and wife team Douglas and Susan McAdam.
