THIEVES OPERATING in the central Algarve have targeted both luxury villas in the Vilamoura area and official buildings in Albufeira in the past week.
A young man is suspected of robbing several homes near the Hilton Hotel in Vilamoura while the Finanças in Albufeira and the Matriz church were broken into over the long weekend.
Thieves left empty handed from the Finanças, however the break in meant that the offices in Albufeira on Rua Telecomunicações were closed until 2pm on Tuesday as police investigated the crime scene.
The Matriz church in Albufeira old town was broken into during the early hours of December 7. Again the perpetrators left with nothing as the church now has no valuables left inside following a series of burglaries since June this year.
