A driver escaped with minor injuries after his car crashed into a roaming horse, killing it, on the EN125 near Porches on Tuesday night last week. The horse, whose owner is yet to be identified, was roaming the area between Porches and Alcantarilha when a car, coming around a bend, crashed into it.
Locals say road concession workers placed warning signs in the area to alert drivers to the presence of an “obstacle” but failed to promptly remove the animal from the roadside. The carcass remained there for two days, said witnesses.
The GNR are investigating the case.
