The number of deaths in traffic accidents in the Algarve has increased in the first seven months of this year compared with the same period in 2009.
According to figures released by the National Authority for Road Safety (ANRS), on average there has been one death per week on the Algarve roads.
The data brings together figures from the GNR and PSP police between January 1 to July 31 this year.
Thirty people lost their lives in the region, five more than in the same period in 2009.
Between August 1, 2009 and July 31 2010, the number of deaths on the roads stood at 47.
