Road signs not a problem

Dear Editor,

Having spent 16 consecutive years escaping Canadian winters in your lovely country, I feel I should add my opinion to this subject. I do not feel the signs should be bilingual.

My wife and I drove around all of the Algarve, as wells as a large portion of the north and never had difficulty with the road signs. We occasionally got lost but that was not the fault of the road signs and that was part of the fun driving in Portugal.

We tried to pick up many of the essential Portuguese and I think tourists to your country should try to do the same.

While my health prevents my wife and I from returning to the Algarve, we keep in touch by reading the Algarve Resident weekly.
