National road company Estradas de Portugal has announced that the EN264 road, which links the towns of São Bartolomeu de Messines and Algoz in Silves council, is to be repaired in 2010.
As part of the project, which is to go to public tender in the New Year, an 11km extension of road will be resurfaced as well as having a new drainage system and road signs put in place.
Sérgio Antão, president of Algoz parish council, told Portuguese newspaper Correio da Manhã: “The parish has been highlighting the need for repairs to that road for a long time. I am satisfied with the announcement of this work.”
