“Road fog”

An octogenarian driver ‘became disoriented’ after a nap in his car near the A1 at Oliveira do Bairro this week, and when he woke up to go home, he drove 14 kilometres on the wrong side of the road – eventually causing an accident involving two other vehicles. Mercifully, no one was hurt, and the son of 81-year-old Joaquim Ribeiro said afterwards: “I am going to do everything I can to make sure he doesn’t drive again.” Ribeiro meantime faces charges for dangerous driving.
