Road deaths down

Road fatalities fell in the Algarve last year, with nine less than in 2010, according to data from the National Road Safety Authority. Forty-five road fatalities were recorded last year, while the number of traffic accidents stood at 1,681, resulting in 174 serious injuries and 1,959 minor injuries. Nationwide, there were 689 road fatalities in 2011, down 52 from the previous year.
