The 2nd Charity Walk in aid of disadvantaged people in the Portimão area will again take place along the town’s riverside on Sunday, December 4.
The event aims to bring some comfort to the neediest in the local community by offering them hampers filled with food supplies, winter clothing and blankets this Christmas. But for this, organisers Mercearia Bio Organic Grocery Store and Cross Arade hope to see as many people as possible participate in the walk and take along with them donations to help fill the hampers.
All donations will be handed to GRATO, an organisation in Portimão fighting social exclusion.
The 6km circular walk sets off from the Capitania at 10am but participants are asked to arrive at 9am for registration and to drop off donations. Registration for the walk can be made in advance at www.merceariabio.com or on the day.
Starting at 11am Cross Arade will hold a series of shows of capoeira and cross training, with the Armazém Integral, Entre Tachos e Sabores and Mercearia Bio providing an organic snack to all participants next to the Capitania.
Supporting the charity walk are the Portimão Town Hall and Parish Council, the Administration of the Sines and Algarve Ports, and the Marina de Portimão. The Resident is again Media Partner for the event.
