Consumer watchdog DECO has warned that river beaches may not be totally safe.
It says laws concerning bathing water quality are not consistent and that river water is often overlooked even when it registers double the contaminants considered acceptable for sea water.
DECO also warns that river beaches may not have lifeguards, as supervision is only mandatory in beaches with facilities managed under a concession contract.
