Dear Editor,
I have lived here in Algarve for several years and just recently my friends came out to visit as they had not been here before. They stayed in very nice accommodation in Guia and enjoyed their stay, except for when they went to three different banks in Guia to change some travellers cheques.
The first two banks wanted to charge £30 on each £100 travellers cheque cashed and the third bank was charging £15.
Needless to say our friends declined to pay these excessive, obscene charges. What is happening in Portugal? Are they trying to send the tourists away because that is what’s happened to our friends – they won’t be back.
