Right wing parties seal deal on ‘Democratic Alliance’

PSD, CDS-PP and PPM signed the Democratic Alliance (AD) coalition agreement today in front of a packed room at the Alfândega do Porto. The agreement – signed by the presidents of all the three parties, sets out AD’s priorities: achieving high levels of growth, boosting incomes and saving and rehabilitating the Welfare State from its ongoing condition of decline. In the room – so packed many were forced to standing at the door – were a number of notable political ‘heavyweights’. This alliance is to take the parties into the March elections and the European elections in June “with the purpose of offering Portugal the necessary political change and an ambitious, reformist, stable moderate and majority government“.
