Right of reply – Direito de Resposta

The Algarve Resident has received the following Right of Reply (Direito de Resposta) from Quinta do Lago, referring to our article entitled ‘State bank bosses paid themselves massive bonuses without looking at (parlous) state of accounts’, published in the January 24, 2019 edition of the printed publication and online. As per article nº24 of the Lei de Imprensa, here we publish it in full:

“QUINTA DO LAGO – EMPREENDIMENTOS IMOBILIÁRIOS E TURÍSTICOS S.A., and the companies of the QUINTA DO LAGO group, are not related in any way to the BIRCHVIEW IMOBILIÁRIA S.A. society, and the QDL SGPS S.A society, or any of its shareholders, as they are completely different entities without there being any link between them or group relationship.

QUINTA DO LAGO – EMPREENDIMENTOS IMOBILIÁRIOS E TURÍSTICOS S.A. and the companies of the QUINTA DO LAGO group are not linked in any way to the property development “The Keys” or to “Vale do Lobo”.

CAIXA GERAL DE DEPÓSITOS has never granted QUINTA DO LAGO – EMPREENDIMENTOS IMOBILIÁRIOS E TURÍSTICOS S.A or any of the companies of the QUINTA DO LAGO group any loans or credits.
Besides its own corporate name, QUINTA DO LAGO – EMPREENDIMENTOS IMOBILIÁRIOS E TURÍSTICOS S.A owns many registered brands (both national and international), all identified as “QUINTA DO LAGO”, making this nomenclature a registered brand and its use forbidden without the express consent of the holder.

QUINTA DO LAGO – EMPREENDIMENTOS IMOBILIÁRIOS E TURÍSTICOS S.A and the companies of the QUINTA DO LAGO group are world-famous, with 46 years of history and great notoriety which has many times led to confusing the brand/company with the territory – an erroneous and harmful perception for the brand.

QUINTA DO LAGO – EMPREENDIMENTOS IMOBILIÁRIOS E TURÍSTICOS S.A and the companies of the QUINTA DO LAGO group are owned by Irish businessman Denis O’Brien, who in recent years has invested over €50 million in the modernisation of the resort”.
