Riding for needy children

More than 60 riders took part in a charity bike ride on May 13 in aid of ACCA, the association helping children in need throughout the Algarve.

Cycling from the Conrad Algarve in Almancil to the Vilamoura Hilton, participants raised around €8,000 but it is anticipated that the total amount will rise after all sponsorship funds are collected.

Proceeds of the bike ride will go towards helping Samuel Santos, who is disabled and currently being financially assisted by ACCA to receive speech therapy and physiotherapy (see Algarve Resident edition of April 20).

Participants were supplied with refreshments from sponsors the Hilton in the Community Foundation and a polo shirt from sponsors Quinta Properties and Abacus & Birch Photography.

Also sponsors of the event, the Conrad Algarve provided a lunch for all participants, family and friends after the ride, with musical entertainment from DJ Tim.

Wanda Crawford of ACCA told the Algarve Resident: “Thank you to all of the ACCA volunteers for helping out on the day. We could not have done it without them.”
