Rich Chinese gastronomy at Conrad Algarve

Festival || The Chinese Cultural Festival, an event celebrating China’s gastronomy as well as its culture and artistic heritage, was held on Tuesday (August 26) at the Conrad Algarve in Quinta do Lago.
Hundreds of guests had the opportunity to taste Chinese delicacies prepared by Executive Chef Andrew McGie. These included prawn crackers with sweet chilli sauce, duck pancakes, Bok Choy and shitake mushrooms, Singapore noodles, steamed Ria Formosa oysters, a selection of steamed dumplings with shrimp and vegetables and Char Siu Bao.
Drinks included cocktails using jasmine tea and typical Chinese ingredients like ginger and lychees.
Besides the food, guests also enjoyed a live demonstration of martial arts, traditional Chinese dances including the ‘Lion Dance’, Thai Chi demonstrations and concerts featuring traditional Chinese instruments.
There were also paintings by well-known contemporary Chinese artists on exhibition, which are expected to be displayed until October.
The festival, organised alongside the Portuguese-Chinese Chamber of Commerce and Industry and ArtCatto art gallery, ended with a fireworks show, a hallmark of any Chinese celebration.
