As he played in last Sunday’s classic between Porto and Benfica, 30-year-old footballer Ricardo Quaresma had no idea that thieves were breaking into his luxury home in Gulpilhares, Vila Nova de Gaia. The intruders, finding no one at home, set about raiding the premises and made off with as much as €250,000 worth of jewellery and valuables. This was the second time the Portuguese winger has been targeted. In 2012, he was held up by an armed gang in Lisbon who made off again with thousands of euros worth of jewellery, as well as €8,000 in cash.
