Olhão wildlife rehabilitation centre RIAS needs your vote to help it win an international contest organised by the Turtle Island Restoration Network – the prize for the environmental project with the most votes is €5,000 to be used to “combat marine debris”.
In the case of RIAS, it intends to implement the ‘Clean Up Ria Formosa’ project. The idea is to get local schoolchildren involved by teaching them the importance of protecting the estuary and its “incredible ecosystem” and carrying out clean up initiatives to remove rubbish from its waters and shores.
But first it needs to win the contest. To vote for RIAS’ ‘Clean Up Ria Formosa’ project, simply provide your name, country and date of birth, and select the option ‘ALDEIA’, the name of the association that manages it.
“As this is an international contest, we need you to share our bid as much as possible,” says the wildlife centre, which has teamed up with Straw Patrol and Projeto GEA to bring the project to life.
