The response to the abduction of Madeleine McCann has been overwhelming, with the reward for her safe return now reaching 2.5 million pounds.
British national Sunday newspaper the News of the World announced a reward of 1.5 million pounds, with businessman Sir Richard Branson, of the Virgin Group, and BHS boss Sir Philip Green said to be among those offering the cash.
The growth in the reward comes after British businessman Stephen Winyard offered 1 million earlier this week.
Contrary to reports, the Portuguese Police have NOT endorsed the reward.
