Brian Hugh Warner is a name that does not cause a reaction. But the same thing cannot be said when we say that this man is recognised under his artistic name of Marilyn Manson.

He is one of the most idolised musicians of the present and will be performing at Pavilhão Atlântico, in Lisbon, on November 19.

Hated by many, loved by millions, Marilyn Manson has just released his sixth album entitled Eat Me, Drink Me, which entered straight into the American and British top 10, having sold more than 80,000 copies in the United States in the first week.

His career began in 1989 with the name Marilyn Manson and the Spooky Kids. In the first three years of existence, the band worship grew because of their live performances with a high visual impact.

In 1993 Marilyn Manson attracted the attention of Trent Reznor, lead singer of Nine Inch Nails, who, after seeing a concert, offered them a contract with his recording label, Nothing Records, and invited the band to be the warm-up act for Nine Inch Nails’ US tour.

Trent Reznor produced their debut album in 1994, called Portrait of an American Family. The band began to develop a cult following which grew larger with the release of Smells Like Children in 1995. This album produced the band’s first big MTV hit with Sweet Dreams (Are Made of This), a cover of the 1983 Eurythmics song.

The album Antichrist Superstar (co-produced by Trent Reznor) was an even bigger success and it is the band’s most well-known work. Three of Marilyn Manson’s albums have been awarded platinum and three gold records.
