Revamped Domes Lake Algarve joins Marriott network

The Domes Lake Algarve resort in Vilamoura has announced it is reopening in April after joining the Marriott International network and undergoing “extensive renovations”.

The beachside resort will now be a part of Marriott’s ‘Autograph Collection’, described as a “collection of independent hotels handpicked for originality and passion in their every expression.”

“Each hotel in our collection is inspired by a clear vision, soul, and story. This creates elements so impactful you can feel the devotion in every sinew of the experience,” says Marriott International on the ‘Autograph Collection’ website.

“No two Autograph Collection hotels are the same, but they all leave their mark with a unique point of distinction and a singular story to tell,” it adds.

Domes Lake Algarve will be the first ‘Autograph Collection’ resort in the Algarve, and the fifth in the region to join the Marriot ‘family’.

Having closed at the end of October, the resort has been undergoing a substantial revamp which will “breathe new life” into the resort.

Renovations are being carried out to all of the 192 rooms as well as common areas, restaurants and bars. Improvements include furniture upgrades and complete revamps of some spaces. Sora Beach, the resort’s beach restaurant at Praia da Falésia, is singled out as one of the locations that is undergoing a major facelift.

Also planned is the construction of a new adults-only pool which will join the other four existing pools at the resorts, providing “more versatility” to Domes Lake Algarve.

Its iconic lake is one of its main features, as well as its direct access to Praia da Falésia.

The resort was named Europe’s Leading New Resort at the 2022 European edition of the World Travel Awards, and also received the 2023 Condé Nast Traveller Johansens Award for Excellence for Best Waterside Hotel.
