A LARGE SCALE renovation project has just begun in the Miradouro area of Praia da Rocha which aims to “restore dignity and pride” to the area that has been dubbed “the visiting card” of Portimão. Public areas are being re-thought in an attempt to create more leisure space and make the zone more inviting for tourists. Portimão Câmara is investing 800,000 euros in the project that will see the renovation and enlargement of pedestrian walkways, re-organisation of street vendors and the improvement of traffic circulation and parking facilities. Street lighting and public drainage are also to receive the council’s attention. The works are expected to be concluded within four months, in time for the busy summer season.
