The sudden return to normal business at public service offices has been disastrous in terms of the physical abuse suffered by staff. Members of the public are so frustrated that ‘normal business’ sees them queuing, sometimes for hours in certain areas, that they have vented their anger on the employees themselves. Says SIC television, seven members of staff at Lojas de Cidadão have been attacked in the nine days since government outlets (including the Finanças and Conservatória) no longer required ‘pre-booking’ (click here). The syndicate of Registry and Notary office workers blames the chaos underway on lack of staff.
