A retired GNR policeman died on Monday (August 3) after being run over by a motorbike in Loulé.
The accident happened at 1.15pm, when the 57-year-old was crossing Marçal Pacheco avenue, near the Hospital Particular.
Initial reports claimed he was run over on a zebra crossing, but these have since been discounted.
A GNR source told us that the former policeman was known to have problems with his eyesight.
He was rushed to hospital in a serious condition after the crash, but died later the same day.
The 18-year-old biker who crashed into him was treated for a “broken foot”.
