Retail sales in June up 4.0%; consumer confidence highest since February 2022

Retail sales in Portugal last month were up 4.0% on the same month a year before, representing an acceleration of one percentage point over the rate seen in the previous month, INE statistics institute reports today. INE’s latest data also points to consumer confidence in Portugal being “at the highest level since February 2022” (the date that Russia invaded Ukraine, changing outlooks everywhere. Consumer confidence, reports INE, has been climbing since December last year.
