Retail crime

RETAIL COMPANIES in Portugal lost a total of 150 million euros worth of business in 2007 because of theft, according to a national report.

This loss represents 1.04 per cent of the volume of business from large retail companies, according to the study carried out by PremiValor.

CDs, DVDs and games are the most stolen items, representing 30 per cent of all thefts from shops.

These are followed by clothes, shoes and small electronic equipment, batteries, cosmetics, ink cartridges and perfumes.
